The Dover Demon crouching on a porch railing in Dover New Hampshire holding a Foxhole Coffee mug

The Dover Demon Showed Up During Our Morning Brew. We Offered Him a Cup.

The Dover Demon is not what you'd expect. Small. Pale. Big orange eyes. Moves like something that doesn't quite understand how gravity works. He showed up on our back porch on a Tuesday morning while we were doing our pour-over, and he just stood there at the edge of the tree line, watching.

We've learned not to make sudden movements in these situations. We finished the bloom, started the pour, and when the cup was done, we set it on the porch railing and stepped back inside.

He approached slowly. Sniffed it. Picked it up with both hands — those long, spindly fingers wrapped all the way around the mug — and drank it in one long pull.

Then he set the mug down, looked at us through the window with those enormous eyes, and disappeared back into the woods.

We've been doing a pour-over on the back porch every Tuesday morning since. The mug is always empty by the time we come back out.

We don't know what the Dover Demon is. We don't know where he comes from. We do know he prefers our Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, light roast, no cream, no sugar.

Honestly? Great taste.
